Zynga Inc Signs Rental Agreement For Office Space In Maitland, Florida

Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) signed a rental agreement for a 5,203 square feet office space located in Maitland, Florida. Emerson International, a real estate development company confirmed the information regarding the office space rented by the online social gaming company, according to report from the Orlando Sentinel.

The location of the new office space rented by the Zynga is near the office of EA Sports, a brand of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) that develops sports video games such as Madden NFL, NBA Live, EA Sports UFC among others.

Zynga is hiring software engineers

Zynga is looking for a strong software engineer to join its growing team in Orlando. The online social gaming company wrote that its team in the area of composed of a number of veterans in the gaming industry responsible in developing popular video game sport franchises such as Madden NFL Football and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

The software engineer will be “responsible for owning the development and architecture of one of our new upcoming titles,” according to Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA).

Former EA Sports executive leads Zynga’s Maitland office

Ian Cummings, the former creative director of EA Sports who worked on the Madden NFL franchise joined Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA). He is leading the online social gaming company’s team in Orlando.

“It’s official; Zynga now is open for business in Orlando, FL, and we are hiring! Currently, I am the director of design here after finishing up a four-month stint in the Zynga San Diego office,” wrote Cummings on his page at LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD).

The technology and video gaming industry in Orlando, Florida is growing. The industry in the region is dominated by EA Sports. Some of the new developments for the technology industry in the region are shared workspaces for tech companies and a downtown incubator for Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) of the University of Central Florida.

Zynga is playing catch up

Zynga under the leadership of Don Mattrick is trying to revive its business. Last month, Mattrick admitted that the company failed to identify the most obvious opportunities and bumped off the road.

According to him, the company is playing catch up. He said, “Imagine we went to the schoolyard, left our lunchbox unattended, someone was eating it. We’re just kind of picking up our lunch now.”

Mattrick is now implementing every strategy he believes would help revive Zynga including restructuring, building fans instead of audiences and executing on multi-device model, etc. He said three things are often discussed during the company’s meetings— growing and sustaining proven live franchises, creating new products and driving efficiencies in the business.
