Yahoo Hires Ex Google Executive Michael Barrett As Revenue Chief

Search engine company Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) just hired a former executive from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Michael Barrett as chief of revenue.  His new job will deem him responsible for Yahoo’s advertising revenue across the globe. He will officially start his new job in July.

Yahoo’s chief executive Ross Levinson is excited to bring Barrett on board as he claimed that Barrett is one of the most successful names in the technology industry and that he’s confident that his new hire will propel his company further into success.

Barrett is also happy to join the Yahoo team and that he is grateful to work with  Ross.

Michael Barrett used to work for advertising company Admeld before the company was acquired by Google last year. He’s still currently the CEO of the company. Before Admeld, he worked as chief revenue officer/executive vice president of Fox Interactive Media and before that, he was executive vice president of sales and partnerships at AOL Media Networks. He’s overseen accounts for many different companies including Disney Online, GeoCities,, and MySpace.

Yahoo is one of the leading search engine companies in America. In addition to  their free search engine service, Yahoo also owns many subsidiaries and brands including Associated Content(which is now under Yahoo Voices) and Flickr photo sharing. While it’s obviously not as popular or as big as Google, it is still a financial powerhouse and hopefully Barrett can take it even further.

Advertising is big business and it’s important to hire the right people for your advertising. I think that Yahoo hired the right executive for the job. Barrett has extensive experience and he’s worked for big companies before. His knowledge of the advertising industry will hopefully take Yahoo to new heights and help them increase their revenue in a big way. I think Michael Barrett will provide a bright future for Yahoo.
