Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Paul Allen has been named the world’s wealthiest bachelor. 60-year old Paul Allen has a net worth of $15.3 billion. The iconic Italian fashion designer 79-year old Giorgio Armani occupies the second spot with a personal net worth of $10.9 billion. The study was conducted by Wealth-X, a global wealth intelligence provider.

Paul Allen owns basketball and football teams

Paul Allen has never been married. He founded Vulcan Capital, and owns basketball team Portland Trailblazers and the football team Seattle Seahawks. He reportedly purchased a $27-million mansion in the affluent Silicon Valley town of Atherton last month. Allen lives on Mercer Island in Seattle. Allen has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to technological and scientific education efforts.

Like Allen, Giorgio Armani is a perennial bachelor. His businesses include clothing line, fragrance, watches, hotels and home decor. Armani turns 80 in April next year. He is followed by the 48-year old Russian oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov. Mikhail accumulated his wealth through his finance and precious metals businesses. He owns the U.S basketball team Brooklyn Nets. Mikhail Prokhorov has a personal fortune of $9.3 billion. He unsuccessfully ran against Vladimir Putin for the presidency of Russia in 2012.

French entrepreneur Xavier Neil is the fourth-wealthiest bachelor with a personal fortune of $8 billion. He is known for creating revolutionary products such as Freebox and and broadband company Free Mobile. DreamWorks Animation SKG co-founder David Geffen was ranked fifth among the richest bachelors. The 70-year old Geffen has a net worth of $6.6 billion.

Other Bachelors on the list

42-year old Marcos Mera is ranked sixth. He has a net worth of $5.7 billion. Mera is the son of Zara co-founder Rosalia Mera who passed away in August. Scott Duncan, aged 31, is the youngest single billionaire on the list. He has a personal fortune of $5.3 billion. 58-year old Andreas “Andy” von Bechtolsheim is ranked eight with a net worth of $4.4 billion. Alejandro Santo Domingo Davila, aged 36, has a person fortune of $3.9 billion. Davila inherited his wealth from his father Julio Mario Santo Domingo Pumarejo, who passed away in 2011. Finally, 75-year old chief executive of H.E. Butt Grocery in Texas, Charles Butt occupies the tenth spot with a fortune of $2.9 billion.
