The Golden iPad

Updated on

Things are starting to look golden for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). A new report from Chinese website Do News shared two photos of what appears to be a champagne-colored iPad Mini 2 with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. This is just a photo and is in no way a confirmation of what to expect. It would be interesting if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was to release the iPad Mini 2 and the iPad in the same gold color as the iPhone 5s.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could also offer the iPad Mini 2 in space gray(another new color for the iPhone 5S). Tech expert Sonny Dickson tweeted an image that looked like the casing of an iPad Mini 2 in the afforementioned color. Both reports match up with Martin Hajek’s concept design featured on NWE, so perhaps there is some truth to these rumors. Dickson’s source also claims the new iPad Mini will feature the M7 co-processor and 64-bit A7 chip.

The iPad 5 is expected to feature 2GB of RAM whereas the Mini 2 will feature 1GB of RAM.

Full sized iPad

International Business Times UK edition added, “Speaking of the full-size iPad, recently leaked photos show the tablet will be narrower than previous models, taking on the same form factor as the iPad mini. Originally, the iPad’s wide screen bezel gave the user somewhere to rest their thumbs without accidentally interacting with the touchscreen, but with the mini Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) tweaked its iOS operating system to ignore accidental inputs made at the edges of the display, negating the need for a large bezel.”

The iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 are expected to be unveiled during an October 15th event. Both tablet computers will feature the new iOS 7 operating system. Now that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has unveiled the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, the focus is on tablets. The Cupertino tech giant takes the lead in the phone and tablet market.
