Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) wants to become a leading employer of America’s military veterans, according to Mercury News. Arnnon Geshuri, Tesla’s vice president of human resources said that the company wants to become a good place to work for the veteran community.
“Veterans are a great source of talent for Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), and we’re going after it,” Geshuri, Tesla’s vice president of human resources, said in an interview
Veterans share Tesla Motors mission
Ted Daywalt, president and CEO of VetJobs said that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has surged to the top in the list of the companies known for veteran friendly workplaces. VetJobs CEO said that the automaker has a good reputation as they hire veterans, who can easily communicate with other veterans. Daywalt, further, said that there is a specific language in the military and it is important to have someone that can speak the language. Experts can survive in the company as they have substantial technical, electrical and mechanical skills, which they eventually earn by serving in the military. Additionally, they work as a united team.
Greg Reichow, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s vice president of production, stated that the company is looking forward to hire veterans because they prove to be reliable and excellent employees along with sharing the company’s sense of mission. Reichow added that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is keen to transform transportation rather than merely building cars.
“They also know how to lead teams, focus teams and function on teams, and they have incredible integrity and discipline,” executive said.

Plans to hire more
Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is increasing employees in its facility to enhance the production of its Model S along with Model X crossover SUV as it forays into new markets internationally. At present, Tesla has 6,000 employees out of which around 5% are veterans including its logistics director, former Navy officer Adam Plumpton. Geshuri said that the company will hire another 600 veterans soon.
Tesla is embarking on a two-pronged approach by aggressively recruiting veterans and also creating a culture, where the veterans feel safe and respected for their work. Jason Noma, a member of Tesla HR team, and former Army sergeant and intelligence analyst looks over the recruitment of employees from military. She has assisted the company in hiring more veterans through the word of mouth, partnerships with veterans groups and recent events like the Oakland Veteran Job Fair.
Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has a busy third floor cafeteria where the veterans can exchange ideas during casual monthly gatherings. Irrespective of the ranks all veterans are welcomed there to share their ideas on how to improve internal programs.
