Tesla CEO Elon Musk To Speak At IGNITION 2013

Updated on

It’s hardly a surprise that Elon Musk, the a co-founder of PayPal, and founder of SpaceX, SolarCity Corp (NASDAQ:SCTY), and Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), would be sought out to speak at this year’s IGNITION event in New York City.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk To Speak At IGNITION 2013

Once each year, IGNITION: Future Of Digital brings together 700 senior executives from the worlds of technology, media, entertainment, investing, finance, and the Internet to explore the emerging business models of digital media.

Elon Musk seems to fit this group not only perfectly, but in more than one of these groups. I’ve never let my admiration of Elon Musk escape my writing. On occasion, I’ve had people suggest that you could almost hear me working on his zipper in my love for the work he’s done.

Whether you’re a fan of the term serial entrepreneur, or not, it certainly applies. This man was once nearly broke after PayPal was sold and he saw his millions. He can’t seem to stop himself and goes full speed ahead, and perhaps 800 miles an hour if his transportation ideas, outside Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) (the Hyperloop) is ever realized.

The term ‘extreme entrepreneur’ is also bandied about quite regularly, and while that suggests that he sketches his ideas while sky diving, something that someday Google Glass or other wearable technology might allow for, it’s equally dismissive. ‘Extreme’ and ‘serial’ often have negative connotations as adjectives.

All that said, it’s certainly a fine addition to IGNITION’s panel if not a coup, for someone as busy as Musk appears to be. This is a man that took Tesla to wild success from a $0 market capitalization in a very short period of time.

The conference will be held in New York, spanning the 11th to the 13th of November this year at the Time Warner Center.
