Verizon is the exclusive carrier partner for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. However, if you want the new Google handsets, but don’t want to commit to Verizon, rival T-Mobile has one lucrative offer for you. T-Mobile has come up with a promotion plan that can give you a refund of 34% to 50% on the purchase of a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL.
To avail the T-Mobile Pixel 2 offer – marketed as a “BYOPixel” promotion – all you have to do is buy a 64GB Pixel 2 from Google, Best Buy, Verizon or any other retailer. Then port the number, or get a new connection and sign up for T-Mobile ONE. Thereafter, you need to submit the purchase proof via T-Mobile’s online validation site, and that’s all.
After all this, you will get $325 via prepaid MasterCard, which is usable wherever the card is accepted. A user can expect to get the prepaid card within eight weeks of submitting the required proofs. It’s a big improvement from T-Mobile’s last year’s offer, where users got small monthly discounts for two years, notes Android Central.
The T-Mobile Pixel 2 offer can also be availed by existing T-Mobile customers, who are required to add a line with T-Mobile ONE or Simple Choice Unlimited, notes PhoneArena. Along with announcing the offer, T-Mobile left no opportunity to criticize rival Verizon. “Want the new Pixel 2 or 2 XL but think Verizon’s slowing network is your only choice? Well, listen up,” T-Mobile said in a press release.
Also, T-Mobile president and CEO – John Legere, said that Verizon is forcing users to use the new Google phones on a network that is unable to “keep up with unlimited data. And they claim the Pixel is ‘exclusive’ – just like they claim to have a better network. I’m here to tell you it’s all BS!” Further, Legere assured buyers that the Pixel 2 would work ‘great’ on their network.
In addition, to advertise their Pixel offer, the company also hired mobile billboards to roam around the streets of San Francisco on the day of the Pixel 2 announcement. So far, there have been no similar plans announced by AT&T to win the Pixel 2 owners.
It must be noted that T-Mobile’s offer covers about half the cost of the 64 GB Pixel 2 version. In case, you purchased a 128 GB, or the larger Pixel 2 XL, your savings will be lower. Still, getting $325 is better than nothing. To qualify for the T-Mobile Pixel 2 offer, you will have to register within 30 days of receipt of the device. According to the carrier, the offer is for a limited time, but no specific date has been mentioned as yet.
Google Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch 1920×1080 AMOLED 16:9 display, compared to a 6-inch 2880×1440 pOLED 18:9 screen for the XL version. The Pixel 2 comes with a 2700mAh battery, while the XL variant boasts a 3520mAh battery. Both come in 64GB and 128GB variants, and sports a 12.2-megapixel rear camera with OIS, PDAF, EIS, and an f/1.8 aperture. The handsets have 4GB of RAM, and are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor.
