We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE)’s upcoming Xperia TL smartphone but we have yet to hear the details regarding the upcoming gadget. Today, we have some solid information.
The new smartphone features a 1.5GHz Qualcomm, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon S4 Dual-core processor, 13MP rear-facing camera/front facing camera that captures 720p video, and a 4.6 inch 720p display. It also features an Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, Mobile BRAVIA Engine for better clarity, and NFC.
This phone will also be featured in the upcoming movie Skyfall (a James Bond action film). The phone will also come preloaded with Skyfall-themed wallpapers, ringtones, and more.
Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE)’s Xperia TL will retail for just $99.99 with a new AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) agreement, which makes for a reasonably priced smartphone. It will hit stores on November 2nd.
It’s good to know that there are still some reasonably priced smartphones on the market. Obviously, it’s not a phone that’s going to be a top competitor to the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, but I think it should appeal to many different types of people. Unfortunately, I think the partnership with the movie is kind of a gimmick, and it probably won’t have much of an effect on sales. I think phone quality has a bigger effect on smartphones sales.
On November 2nd, AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) will also release the LG Optimus G, which starts at $199.99, with a new contract. This phone features a 4.7 inch True HD IPS+ Display, LTE Connectivity, 15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor, 8MP rear camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) should have a good holiday season in terms of sales. With the iPhone 5 and a mix of other smartphones at various price ranges, the carrier should have no problem making sales and garnering new subscriptions in the next few months. I think this year’s lineup of phones, including the Sony Xperia TL, should prove to be a success.
