Rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6S have reached fever pitch. The brand new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are set to be unveiled at a media event on September 9. Recent supply chain and carrier leaks suggest that the phones will be available for pre-order on Sept.11, followed by in-store sales on Sept.18.

The semi-functional iPhone 6S is missing some components

We have seen a lot of leaked internal components of the iPhone 6S. But now MacRumors has obtained from its sources a new video and several photos that show how those components can be put together to build a semi-functional iPhone. The new images and video show the iPhone 6S display assembly and logic board combined with other components like the rear shell and battery.

The phone doesn’t boot into iOS, but it has enough components to briefly power on the screen and show a gear icon. Missing from the video are some major components like the main camera. The iPhone 6S is widely expected to bring support for Force Touch. The device shown in the video didn’t boot fully to prove the Force Touch support.

iPhone 6S confirmed to feature Qualcomm’s LTE modem

New images confirm the previous leaks that the iPhone 6S will feature Qualcomm’s MDM9635M LTE baseband modem that boasts of increased power efficiency and faster LTE. Apple’s upcoming iPhones will feature 64-bit A9 processor. One of the images shows the unlabeled A9 (right) compared to the A8 chipset in the iPhone 6. Markings that would reveal RAM were also missing because the photos are of a pre-production unit, says MacRumors.

The A9 processor will be based on 14nm FinFET technology, and will be produced by Samsung. The new phones will reportedly come with 2GB RAM, a 12-megapixel main camera, iOS 9, and a sturdier design. MacRumors’ video also confirms past reports that the iPhone 6S will look a lot like the iPhone 6, though it will bring some internal changes.

Previously, there were reports that Apple would launch a rose gold iPhone, but a China Telecom representative has revealed that the rose gold iPhone 6S is not coming.
