NASA continues to search for extraterrestrial life, although no definitive evidence of alien life has surfaced yet. However, that hasn’t kept one NASA scientist from believing aliens already visited us here on Earth. He wrote a paper justifying his claims.
Silvano P. Colombano is the NASA scientist who claims aliens already visited us. In addition to being a computer scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center, he is also a professor. His theory suggests the true depiction of alien life on Earth is not the same as how we pictured it previously. He believes the building blocks of life on Earth, which include carbon-related materials which came to Earth, are not the same ingredients for alien life. In other words, he theorizes that since humans and aliens may not be the same form of life, our origins may not be the same.
“I simply want to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn’t already) might not be at all be produced by carbon based organisms like us,” Colombano wrote in his paper.
He believes this theory could change a lot of our ideas about what alien life might look like, meaning researchers would need to search for different conditions for life. He suggested that we would need to adopt a “new set of assumptions” about the higher intelligence we are looking for.
“Our typical life-spans would no longer be a limitation (although even these could be dealt with multi-generational missions or suspended animation), and the size of the ‘explorer’ might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity,” Colombano explained in his paper.
His study also theorizes that aliens may have a different approach to technology which humans don’t understand yet. Their technology may have enabled them to travel through interstellar space much faster than we can right now. He added that it may take some time for us to figure out how interstellar travel works, adding that it could be possible based on what we assume about different forms of life.
“Considering further that technological development in our civilization started only about 10K years ago and has seen the rise of scientific methodologies only in the past 500 years, we can surmise that we might have a real problem in predicting technological evolution even for the next thousand years, let alone 6 million times that amount!” he wrote.
He aims to encourage physicists to search beyond current theories and “stretch possibilities as to the nature of space-time and energy.” He also wants to engage technologists in exploring which courses future technology development might take place. Additionally, he wants sociologists to consider how aliens might choose to communicate with us if we ever discover signs of life outside Earth.
Whether aliens already visited us or not, the NASA scientist will need more solid evidence to prove the existence of a life form which differs from our assumptions.
