Samsung Galaxy S6 To Be The First Smartphone With 4GB RAM [REPORT]

Samsung’s forthcoming flagship device Galaxy S6 could be the very first smartphone to sport 4GB RAM, according to a new report. What’s more, the global smartphone leader has started mass production of 20nm 4GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM memory chips. The new LPDDR4 chips are 50% faster than the best LPDDR3 memory currently available on the market, and are 40% more power efficiency at 1.1volts.

The 4GB RAM is ready in time for Galaxy S6

According to Samsung Tomorrow, the Galaxy S6 will debut in late February or early March 2015. It could be the first smartphone with 4GB RAM that will be ready for market deployment in early 2015. The new 4GB RAM modules offer an input/output data rate of 3200Mbps, two times faster than the DDR3 DRAM used in PCs. As a result, it can support Ultra HD video recording and playback, and continuous shooting of images with more than 20-megapixels.

The Galaxy S6 is tipped to feature 16 or 20-megapixel main camera, 5MP front camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 2.7GHz clock speed and Android Lollipop. The phone is expected to come with Quad HD display (2560 x 1440) and 32/64/128GB storage options. The Korean electronics giant is designing its from the ground up under the Project Zero.

Galaxy S6 to have unibody aluminum chassis

The phone has also made its way to the AnTuTu benchmark. It showed that a variant of the Galaxy S6 will feature 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor with Mali-T760 graphics processor. A couple of days ago, French website Nowherelese obtained leaked images of the Galaxy S6 metal frame. The images revealed that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will sport a unibody aluminum chassis, dumping the plastic case used in older models.

Last week, Samsung reportedly shipped a variant of Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) to India for testing and evaluation purposes. The device appeared on the Indian import/export site Zauba with a listed value of $300. Actual price of the device will be different from the listed value. Earlier, there were rumors that the device could be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show next month. Another report claims that the Galaxy S6 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in early March.
