Samsung Galaxy S5 [SPECS]

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive sometime early in 2014, but tech fans want to know more about the highly-anticipated smartphone. We’ve been hearing many reports and predictions about what we can expect from the phone, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Samsung Galaxy S5 water proof

Current rumors indicate the Galaxy S5 may have a water-proof and dust-resistant design. There is also a report of Galaxy Note 3 Active smartphone which will also be water-proof and dust-resistant. Is Samsung stealing a page out of Sony’s playbook?

At the beginning of the year, the South Korean tech giant introduced several different versions of the Galaxy S4 which included Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom, and Galaxy S4 Mini. The zoom phone included an improved camera and the Mini smartphone provided a smaller budget friendly design.

Metal body feature

There are also numerous reports the Galaxy S5 will feature a metal body instead of a plastic body. This would be a good thing for the tech giant as metal phones often look more upscale than plastic phones.  One of the many reasons Apple’s iPhone is so appealing is the sleek and modern design. Just looking at the phone reminds us that it comes with a premium price. And now that the iPhone comes in a stylish gold color, the pressure is on.

Specifications for Galaxy S5

International Business Times also reported that the Galaxy S5 will feature a vastly improved camera. IBT offered more details, “The latest Samsung news indicates that the Korean manufacturer plans to begin mass producing an updated 13-megapixel lens for its upcoming devices in early 2014. According to Japanese tech website Tech On, the Samsung Electro-Mechanics subsidiary has been hard at work developing a lens to address the shortcomings seen on the 13-megapixel lens featured on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), this new lens allows for the correction of angular errors of up 1.5 degrees, more than twice the anti-shake correction ability seen on cameras currently on the market. In addition, the lens is expected to produce low-light pictures eight times brighter than the previous 13-megapixel lens on the Galaxy S4.”

It looks like we might expect great things from Samsung’s upcoming smartphone.
