Samsung Galaxy S5, Nokia Android, HTC M8 Most Awaited At MWC 2014

Tech trade shows have lost their charm as many big brands like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Samsung and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) hold their own event to release their products. However, in Barcelona many of the big names are expected to be present in the show.  Mobile World Congress (MWC), one of the much-awaited tech events, will start on February 23 with string of press conferences and announcements from different brands concerning hot new phones and tablets.

One of the most eagerly watched announcements will be from Korean major Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930), who recently released a teaser promoting its “Unpacked 5” event.

Samsung send invites for “Unpacked 5” event

According to the industry onlookers the Korean electronics major will launch Galaxy S5 at the show, expected to be the best-selling phone of the year. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) has sent invites to journalists and other prominent people for its Unpacked event, where it is expected to launch Galaxy S5 along with a range of other products.

There is a huge expectation that Samsung’s new phone will have features like “Privacy” and “fitness.” In Galaxy S4, also, the company tried to integrate some fitness features, but could not materialize it.

According to the rumors, the upcoming Galaxy S5 will have a solid aluminum body that’s less of a publicity stunt and more practical. The phone would also have a superior quality screen.

Nokia with Android, a must-watch

The Finish phone maker, Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT: NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is expected to launch the Lumia 1820, a phablet with a 5.2 inch display. Also, in the event, the Lumia 1525 could be showcased with a 6 inch display. Apart from Lumia phones, Nokia is expected to launch an Android powered phone, Normandy, which would probably be a low priced phone. There is a little doubt and awkwardness in the timing for the launch of the Normandy phone as Nokia has already sold its device segment to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).

HTC pins hopes on M8

HTC, the other major smartphone maker, had been experiencing a rough time though it launched one of its best phones, One series, which was applauded by analysts and experts, but could not garner much sales. The phone maker is expected to launch One 2, in order to lift its declining sales for the 28th consecutive quarter. Also known as M8, the new flagship will have a 5 inch, full HD screen, aluminum constructions and the updated Sense 6.0 User Interface powered by Android 4.3 Kitkat.
