Updated on

Samsung Galaxy Alpha is available for pre-order in the UK even before its official announcement.  Mobilefun, a smartphone retailer, is already taking pre-orders for the phone at £549. Except for the release date, the retailer offers details about almost everything about the phone that anyone could want to know.

Prior to being dubbed the Alpha, the phone was leaked as the Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy F. The phone could feature an octa-core Exynos 5 processor and Google’s Android 4.4.2 Kitkat mobile operating system.

This smartphone from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) will be competing with LG G3 based on the screen, but according to the retailer’s webpage, the phone will have 4.7in 1280×720 resolution Super AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 320ppi. The Samsung Alpha phone will also come with a fingerprint scanner similar to the scanner in the Samsung Galaxy S5.

According to the leaked reports, the Galaxy Alpha will sport a 12 MP rear facing camera with “super-fast autofocus” and LED flash, 2.1MP front-facing camera, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0 and 32GB of internal storage. The phone will also be fitted with the microSD card slot. Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to have a “metallic design,” but Mobilefun is still to reveal an image of the device.

Release date, expected features of Galaxy Alpha

Galaxy Alpha is expected to launch on September 13th, but according to the latest report, the smartphone could launch early next week.  A new report from All about Samsung says that the company will release the Galaxy Alpha on August 13.

According to AnTuTu Benchmark, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has a model number of SM-G850F and includes a 4.8-inch 1280 x 720 display with a pixel density of 320 pixels (ppi). Samsung Galaxy Alpha got an AnTuTu benchmark score of 38658, which is more than Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4. The higher score of the Samsung Alpha might be because of higher resolution 1920×1080 display compared to Galaxy Alpha’s 720p display.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is supposedly the first smartphone from the Korean firm with an all metal body, but there might be two versions of the device. As per the images posted by ‘DaarrthVader’ on the social networking site Weibo, the white color of the Galaxy Alpha will be known as ‘Stormtrooper White.’
