Russia has unveiled its new radio-electronic weapons system, which no other country in the world possesses. It’s an unmatched destructive weapon that the Russians have already tested and proved efficient.
The new technology developed by Russia’s United Instrument Manufacturing Company (OPK) is said to be one of the weapons “based on new physical principles,” as cited by RIA Novosti.
The new electronic systems include weapons that are capable to do phenomena not generally found in modern weapons. A representative for the OPK revealed that laser and sonic weapons are among the examples of this technology.
He also added that this radio-electronic weapons system is yet unrivaled and no other country in the world has anything like it.
“This is a completely new type of weapon, which has no analogues in our country, and I daresay, in the world,” he said, adding that instead of using the traditional rounds of shells, the system uses ‘directed energy’ to hit the enemy.
If that sounds like Star Wars already, keep reading. “It conducts indirect physical impact on the on-board equipment of aircraft or drones and neutralizes precision-guided weapons,” the representative said.

+1 Point for Russia, -1 Point for U.S.
The brand-new unmatched weapon was shown to top Russian military chiefs last month, when the manufactures rolled it out during a private performance at the annual military expo ‘Army 2016’.
Earlier this year, US Air Force General Philip Breedlove warned that Russia was strengthening its electronic warfare capabilities.
The General said that Russia has invested “a lot” in electronic warfare because they know the Americans are “a connected and precise force,” so in order to defeat the U.S., Russia would have to “disconnect” them first.
Although the U.S. is developing a number of non-conventional weapons on its own, it still cannot match the new revolutionary technology Russia has just unveiled.
In April 2016, Russia’s Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET) said it had started tests of a precise, tactical electromagnetic combat complex which would be integrated with Russia’s state-of-the art air-defense systems.
In other words, Russia will now be able to interfere with any of the enemy’s existing and prospective airborne electronic equipment, suppress its capabilities and make it unable to either defend itself or attack.
Why Russia could unleash nuclear war?
Russia saw the need to strengthen its non-conventional arsenal after the relations between Moscow and the West started crumbling. Interestingly, relations between Moscow and Washington are at its lowest since the end of Cold War.
It prompts many military analyst to evaluate the probability of either side to resort to its nuclear weapons to defeat its enemy. But there are a number of indications why Russia is likely to be that first side to use the nukes:
- Last year, the brutal Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that Moscow was ready to put its nuclear forces on alert while annexing Crimea in 2014 in order to deter any NATO intervention.
- Earlier this month, Russia held its massive nuclear evacuation drills involving 40 million civilians and over 50,000 pieces of military equipment.
- Russia already possesses a whopping 7,300 nuclear warheads – more than any other country in the world (even the U.S.) – which gives it more confidence in a nuclear confrontation.
- Russia has become increasingly interested in an alliance with Pakistan and China, both powerful nuclear-capable nations.
- Russian officials recently announced they now have nuclear bunkers capable of holding 12 million people.
- And more concerning: Russia recently refused to comply with the deal it signed in 2000 to dispose its storages of weapons-grade plutonium.
Why this is so concerning? Well, first of all, that plutonium is one of the main components to build nuclear weapons.
Second of all, Washington and Moscow had agreed to destroy about 34 tons each of weapons-grade plutonium, which the U.S. state department claims is enough to create about 17,000 nuclear weapons.
As of now, there are about 15,500 nuclear weapons (with Russia alone possessing about 7,300) in the whole world, while that list of nuclear-powered counties includes Russia, the U.S., China, Pakistan, India, the U.K., Israel and North Korea.
U.S. fears ‘terrible nuclear attacks’ from Russia
Syria is today’s major factor that could force Russia to resort to nuclear arms.
Russian newspaper called Moskovsky Komsomolets last week predicted that there could be “direct military confrontation” between Russia and the West, and even went as far as comparing Syria to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Just recently, US secretary of defense Ash Carter announced the U.S. was reviewing its “nuclear playbook,” adding that the country has focused on strengthening its nuclear arsenal to protect itself from potential “terrible attacks” by Russia.
But Russian, in turn, says it’s the U.S. who is plotting against Russia and is getting ready to start a war. That’s how the paranoid Russia explains its ever-growing boost of its nuclear and non-conventional weapons.
Russia’s veteran broadcaster Vladimir Pozner recently had an interview with the BBC, where he revealed that “there is a real feeling” now that the United States is preparing to prove that it’s the only superpower in the world.
“The continued expansion of NATO is seen by the Russian leadership, perhaps incorrectly, as being a real threat,” Pozner said, adding that there a danger in military confrontation that would lead to war.
It also seems that Russia would have no problem using its nuclear weapons as soon as it goes to war with the U.S. In fact, with the recent nuclear-strengthening moves and Putin confirming that he was ready to use nukes two years ago, it’s clear that Putin has the guts to use nuclear arms.
Ever since relations between Russia and the U.S. took a turn to the worse two years ago, Putin has greatly ramped up drills of Russia’s nuclear-powered aircraft and submarines at the border with the West.
So what’s Putin ultimate plan and what is he waiting for? There is a theory that Putin would seek his ally China’s help to tackle U.S. global dominance when the nation will be divided during November’s Presidential election.
