Research In Motion Ltd (BBRY) Q10 With Keyboard Coming Soon To Canada

This model will be available on all the major carriers but Rogers Communications Inc. (TSE:RCI.B) will be the first Canadian-based carrier to offer the new phone. The BlackBerry Q10 will be available for pre-order April 23 and the phone will be available for purchase April 30.

This new model will feature a physical keyboard, dual-core 1.5 GHz, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon S4 plus SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 8.0MP camera, NFC, and dual-band 802 .11n.

The BlackBerry Q10 will retail for $200 with a three-year contract. That price is $100 more than the BlackBerry Z10 on Rogers Communications.

John Boynton, executive vice president of marketing/chief marketing officer for Rogers Communications, explained, “We are excited to be the first to offer Canadians a choice of the black or limited-time exclusive white BlackBerry Q10, enabled to run on our blazing fast 2600 MHz LTE spectrum.”

Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB)/Blackberry has been struggling in the smartphone market thanks to all the competition from companies like Samsung and Apple. In an effort to make a fresh start, the company changed it’s name from Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) to BlackBerry.

The company is also releasing new smartphones to compete with both Apple and Samsung. Most of these new phones are touchscreen variety, unfortunately the devices are not selling as well as BlackBerry would like them to.

Although it was estimated that Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB)/Blackberry’s time was already up, the company is still making phones, which means that there is still a market for them, albeit a small market.

Perhaps they still have some time to redeem themselves before it’s too late. However, sales will have to pick up in the next quarter.
