While nearly everyone in the world knows Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930), NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ), despite a global base of 427 million registered user accounts and 133 million monthly active accounts throughout its consumer mobile security business, is considerably less known.

However, as the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona heats up this week, NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ) announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) to become an authorized reseller of the Samsung KNOX Mobile Device Management solution.

The announcements

“The reseller agreement between Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) and NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ) is a natural evolution of our relationship and shared dedication to providing the strongest security solutions that still enable full device functionality in the enterprise setting,” said Injong Rhee, Senior Vice President of KNOX Business, IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.

“NQ Mobile looks forward to this strengthened relationship with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) and the ability to promote and resell Samsung KNOX mobile security services for Samsung’s entire Android device portfolio including the Samsung GALAXY S and Samsung Note devices,” said Gavin Kim, President, International and Chief Commercial Officer, NQ Mobile.

The Samsung / Nokia relationship strengthens

The agreement strengthens the existing relationship between the two companies and now allows NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ) to sell, promote, and distribute the KNOW end-to-end security for Samsung devices. The idea behind the KNOX platform is simple, though the technology is not. It allows consumers to use the same device for both work and personal use by allowing users to separate enterprise from the personal environment. It provides assistance to IT departments charged with managing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies. Alternatively, it is used to replace legacy infrastructures that support Samsung mobile handsets while providing advanced data and privacy protection.

The deal will allow users to combine Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s KNOX and NQSky Mobile Device Management platform augmenting bulletproof mobile management and security protection for nearly all Samsung devices.

Enterprises will also be able to provide robust device management, mobile application management (MAM), mobile content management (MCM), and mobile security management (MSM) for smartphones including Android, iOS, and Windows Phone by using NQSky’s device and platform agnostic mobile managed services.
