Nokia launched its latest smartphone Lumia 925, during an evening in London on Tuesday. The new flagship phone runs on Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Windows Phone 8, featuring fully metallic body and hi-tech SmartCam that can take 10 photos at once.

Nokia Lumia 925 Comes With Metal Body And SmartCam

The Finnish mobile phone maker last week launched Lumia 928 and low-cost Asha 501. The latest smartphone will be available on T MOBILE US INC (NYSE:TMUS) in the United States, O2 and Vodafone Group Plc (NASDAQ:VOD) (LON:VOD) in the UK and other carriers around the world by next month.

Nokia Lumia 925 Features

The new Lumia 925 looks more like Lumia 928 that was launched last week. But the exteriors are entirely different. While the Lumia 928 has a white polycarbonate or plastic body, Lumia 925’s body is made entirely of metal. The latest smartphone has a large 4.5-inch AMOLED display with 1280×768-resolution. It is equipped with 8.7MP camera, 1GB RAM, and a dual-core Snapdragon processor. Camera is the highlight of Lumia 925. Its SmartCam can take 10 photos in quick succession, automatically select the best one and allow the user to edit them in a sequence. Lumia 925 has six lenses.

At 139 grams, it is the lightest smartphone by Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V). However, it doesn’t have wireless charging on its back cover as the company will be selling wireless charging cases separately. Ifi Magid, Nokia’s director of Smart Devices team, told ABC News that the company will highlight Lumia 925’s camera while marketing the device. The SmartCam software will also be available on other Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) handsets soon.

Ifi Magid said that the company has now recognized the importance of camera. He believes that SmartCam performs even better than the iPhone 5 camera in low-light conditions. However, only market will tell how it stands out among the much hyped Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) said in its latest research report that Nokia Lumia 925 is company’s attempt to upgrade its high end Lumia portfolio. However, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) believes that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s turnaround depends on the success of its low end smartphone Lumia 520. JPMorgan has an Underweight rating on the stock.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) shares were down 5.47 percent to $3.63 at 1:16 PM EDT.
