Nokia shareholders to vote on Microsoft acquisition

Within a month, shareholders of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) will finally vote on the offer from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to buy up the Finnish tech company. As of right now, both tech giants are still close allies which allows them to help each other. The company official for Nokia decided not to make a comment.

Gartner’s research director Roberta Cozza explained, “The bottom line is that the challenges with Windows RT remain, especially related to the ecosystem around the OS. That’s not going to go away tomorrow.” Cozza also predicts Tuesday’s Nokia event in Abu Dhabi might just be the beginning of the Microsoft/Nokia collaboration in efforts to make the Windows RT operating system even more appealing.

Nokia Lumia 2520 features

The Nokia Lumia 2520 will feature a full ten-inch screen. It will also be as colorful as the other products in the product family, have Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, as well as 32GB of internal storage. PCWorld added, “Windows RT 8.1 is off to a rocky start, as Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) decided to remove the update from its Windows Store on Friday after some Surface RT owners reported their tablets had been crippled. If the tablet is a bit of a long shot, Samsung Electronics has shown there is interest for smartphones with screen sizes larger than 5.5 inches, a fact a number of other vendors are trying to capitalize on with competing products. Nokia’s candidate is reportedly called the Lumia 1520, and will have a 6-inch screen with full HD resolution.”

Nokia hopes to increase their sales and gain momentum with the Lumia 525 and a smartphone with a larger screen and simpler specs. Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) aren’t the only companies to debut new gadgets on Tuesday. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is predicted to unveil the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display.
