Nexus 5 2015 rumors are starting heat up now even though many members of the tech community are convinced that Google has ended the Nexus line entirely. Today we have a pair of rumors about what could be the next member of the Nexus line.
One website is reporting that Google is preparing it for an October or November release, while another reports that the handset could have an excellent 3D camera. Now to be clear, this is about the rumored 2015 version of the Nexus 5, which of course is already out. Perhaps fans of the Nexus phones are hoping Google will be able to release one that doesn’t crash on Android 5.1.
Fall release date for Nexus 5 2015?
Tech Gadget Central is reporting that its sources claim that Google has selected LG and Huawei to manufacturer the Nexus 5 2015 and that there are two different versions of the smartphone. The website further reports that it could be launched in either October or November.
Recently Concept Phones offered a list of possible specs for this year’s Nexus phone. The website suggested that the phone will have a 5.5-inch quad-HD AMOLED screen with an incredible 4 GB of RAM. The Nexus 5 2015 could also run on a Snapdragon 820 processor and feature a removable 4,000 mAh battery and a heart rate sensor.
3D camera on the Nexus 5 2015?
Also included in the rumored specs are a 13-megamixel front-facing camera and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera. Interestingly, Phone Arena added another tidbit to the rumor about the camera.
The website cites South Korean media outlet inews24 as saying that the Nexus 5 2015 will have some sort of “3D camera module.” The media outlet does not give a specific name to the phone, however, referring to it as a “premium Nexus smartphone.” In other words, it probably wouldn’t get the “Nexus 5 2015” name as so many are referring to it as. And anyway, why wouldn’t Google go with the Nexus 6 name instead?
Further, the rumor claims that the 3D camera module is specifically for LG’s version of the smartphone and not Huawei’s. Phone Arena noted that recently a reference to an LG device called “bullhead” was discovered inside some source code for Android. The name would certainly fit in with the “hammerhead” moniker that was used as a codename for last year’s Nexus 5.
