New iPad Has Users Complaining About Wifi Issues

Last Friday Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)  launched their new third generation iPad (also known as new iPad). Many reported on Apple’s forum that the new device has problems with WiFi signals. Weak WiFi signal means reduction in speed of wireless Internet connectivity and thereby affecting browsing experience.

A user named as “stlsteve” created a new thread on Apple Support Community titled “Poor wifi reception on new iPad”. Aside from stlsteve”, many other users voiced similiar complains on the forum thread.

Here’s what the user has to say:

I am in a hotel with my laptop and new ipad3. The laptop wifi reception is as strong as it gets, but the iPad only registers a weak signal. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?

Many other users also complained. Below are a few quotes:

It_caveman: Same here ipad2 has twice the wifi range with the same settings as the ipad3. The screens nice but I may return mine if this is the way they all are.

Sully2003: Same here! Will not hold WIFI for more than a few minutes. Two MacBooks and iPhone working fine from same router. Ready to return iPad

The complaints seem strange, since this seemed to only be an issuewith iPad 3 and not with any other company products.

A user named “gdtobme” stated:

I got the New iPad on Friday 3/16/12 and noticed the WiFi was cutting in and out no matter my distance from the router. Returned the New iPad to Best Buy later that day and they were able to replicate the problem using their WiFi signal. I was able to exchange the unit for a new one that same day. Now the new unit does not have any WiFi problems.

If you’re tech savvy user then you can try following the advice of a user “mtecomputers”.

Has anyone tried doing a Network Reset on their iPad? Then connect back to the whatever wifi connection they need to connect to then test. IE you migrate all your settings from your old idevice to the new one, you are carrying over network settings to the new one. So in short you need to remove the settings and set them up again.

If the above suggestion worked for you, then its great. If not then don’t worry, you can just take your unit back. You can make an appointment with an Apple Genius and have them get the problem fixed.

This could be a rumor from Microsoft Corporation (MSFT). As today, we reported rumors of the company banning the devices from their employees. We have no evidence, but are speculating whether they be behind some of these complaints? We reported the heat issue with the new iPAD, and almost every comment denied any problem at all. Perhaps they are trying to ruin the reputation of Apple’s new product.
