Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc (NYSE:MMI) is gearing up for the holiday season with a new phone in place of  Moto X. Technology expert Taylor Wimbley shared a special post on Google+ stating that Motorola will release yet another Nexus smartphone during the last quarter of this year.

Moto X To Be Replaced By Motorola With New Nexus

Moto X and now new Nexus

Gigaom explained, “You might remember that Wimberly, formerly of Android and Me, was chock full of leaks for the Moto X, most of which turned out to be true. Now he’s reporting that Motorola is already at work on Google’s next Nexus smartphone, which should be ready in time for a holiday launch. Google has previously used a number of manufacturers for its Nexus line, from HTC and Samsung to, most recently, LG. Early rumors pegged LG to remain on board for the next Nexus, but Motorola seems like a much more likely fit. Google owns Motorola, after all.”

This phone could be similar to Motorola’s other phones like the lineup of Droids or a more customizable design like Moto X. The latter was reviewed by Jonathan S. Geller for BGR. He explains that unlike most Android smartphones, this model doesn’t feel so much like Google. It was constructed from plastic (a combination of glossy plastic and soft plastic). This ensures that the phone looks and feels like a premium phone. It also features a 4.7 inch panel, 720 HD resolution, AMOLED screen, Qualcomm dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4, quad-core graphics processor, 10 megapixel camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and a natural language processor which powers the touchless control.

Moto X features

The Moto X also features Android 2.2.2 and comes with 16GB of storage. There are also automatic features like HDR mode and automatic flash.

There is no word yet on what we can expect from Motorola’s upcoming smartphone but we should hear more rumors leading up to the official unveiling. Only time will tell if Motorola will continue to succeed in the phone market.
