MicrosoftCorporation is seeing massive growth opportunity in India, General Manager SMS&P (Small and Midmarket Solutions & Partners), Microsoft India Meetul Patel’s told PTI. Patel stated that the firm is eager to combine its technological expertise with country’s ambitious campaigns like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India.’

Microsoft – Technology is the key

While giving an interview on the sidelines of the Microsoft Worldwide Conference in Orlando, Patel said, “The government has done a tremendous job in building excitement around India. The programs are easy and simple to understand.” Patel said the technology is a key to all govt. campaigns such as ‘Make in India,’ ‘Digital India or the Skill India’ campaign.

Patel said the campaigns suggests the change is visible, which makes it easier for the businesses to talk to others across the world, convincing them it is happening here. “There is a resonance that already exists in their minds about what is going on and it helps a lot.”

Patel is hopeful over the likely technological explosion in India as technology is getting along really well with the political aims. A combination of Microsoft technology, India’s passion and desire to enter 21st century and their partner’s ecosystem perfection will drive the country towards a new era in terms of technology adoption. Only a year has passed since the new government came up with many programs, but the momentum is already there.

Big opportunity for Microsoft

Hinting on the opportunity for Microsoft, the executive feels in India, which is rich consumer and small business, many are still to use technology. Patel said the solution providers who develop cloud apps are in talks with the firm over the apps relevant to Indian users and small business.

Patel is aware that India is focusing on manufacturing, but it will require the quality and support of Microsoft tools like office and Skype to fit into the global supply chain. Patel noted that to access global supply chain, productivity, quality and collaboration will be necessary, adding Microsoft tools such as Office will give help with capability, enabling firms to communicate and collaborate across the world.

Referring to India’s Skills India initiative, Patel said that Microsoft’s cloud and mobility will help people to learn and acquire new skills in a unique way. “The India story is a very exciting one. It is the biggest white space that exists in terms of opportunity for many companies to come in,” he said, but noted infrastructure still remains a challenge.
