Logitech has unveiled a new wireless keypad and mouse set under its Logitech G gaming brand. The Logitech G603 mouse and the G613 keyboard are based on the company’s in-house Lightspeed wireless technology. Logitech also unveiled the Logitech G840 XL Gaming Mouse Pad, which is designed for use with desktops.
Perfect accessories for gamers
Gamers looking for mechanical switches can now choose the new Logitech keyboard, which promises them better speed. With the Logitech G613, gamers can also take control of multiple devices via Bluetooth. Further, one can also use the Romer-G mechanical switches with a short throw actuation point, which, according to Logitech, makes key hits over 25% faster than they are on a standard mechanical keyboard. Users also get six programmable keys, which can be used for custom functions.
In a statement, Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G, said, “Lightspeed and Powerplay made the dream of untethered and uncompromised wireless performance a reality.”
The new Hero sensor in the Logitech G603 wireless mouse and the new G613 wireless mechanical keyboard reflects the company’s commitment to make its entire product line wireless, the executive added.
The wireless G613 keyboard will come with a price tag of $150, but the G603, at $70, appears to be a good bargain compared to its premium counterparts, notes Engadget. Both products are expected to be available at global retailers this week.
What’s special about the Logitech G603 mouse?
In the Logitech G603 mouse, the company has embedded its brand new optical sensor dubbed HERO, or High Efficiency Rating Optical. The indigenous optical sensor is 10 times more power efficient than Logitech’s 3366 mouse sensor and offers four times better performance than its M010 and M000 sensors. Logitech entered into a partnership with a Swiss company to build HERO.
For now, the company has kept the sensor for its own devices, but it might license it to other companies in the future. One of the most important features of HERO is its capacity to update its firmware indefinitely whenever the company pushes out new features or makes some performance optimizations, notes Tom’s Hardware.
The G603 may look like a low-cost alternative to the G703 and G903, but the upgraded technology in the mouse offers high 12,000DPI sensitivity and extended battery life which lasts at least 21 days. Efficient battery life will ensure that the mouse does not die in the middle of a gaming session.
One of the many features of the mouse is that it can run without two batteries, so gamers looking to reduce the weight of the mouse can just pop out the extra weight. Without the batteries, the mouse will weigh just 88.9 grams, and with them, it will weigh about 112.3 grams.
Accessing the battery chamber is also easy via the magnetically attached top panel. Beneath the mouse, there is a switch control that can be set to Hi, Lo or Off and a Lightspeed/ Bluetooth button.
Logitech stated that neither the left nor the right buttons have pretravel, which the company noted was hard to create with the removable magnetic top cover design. All the switches beneath the mouse are made by Omron.
