LinkedIn Reaches 50 Million Users In Asia Pacific

LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) said the number of its users in the Asia Pacific region reached 50 million.

Asian membership tripled

According to the largest online professional network, its membership in the region increased three times from May 2011 when it opened its regional center in Singapore.

LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) now has more than one million members in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand. The company has more than 2 million members in Indonesia and the Philippines, over 4 million members in China, and more than 5 million users in Australia.

Last year, the online professional network added over 7 million new users in India bringing its membership in the country to more than 24 million, the highest in the region.

In a statement, Hari Krishnan, managing director of LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) said, “The strong growth we are seeing in our member base is a great encouragement for us. We still have much to do in terms of connecting all professionals around the world. Accordingly, we are looking to introduce more features to deliver even more value to our members and customers.”

LinkedIn added six Asian languages in offerings

The online professional network added six Asian languages in its services to provide more localized experience to its members in the region.

LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) also included several influencers based in Asia including Tony Fernandes, group CEO of AirAsia, David Thodey, executive director and CEO of Telstra, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Managing director and chairman of Biocon, and Nobuyuki Idei, founder and CEO of Quantum Leaps.

Krishnan emphasized that LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) aims to help Asian businesses and professional to become even more successful at what they do such expanding professional connections, tapping critical talents, marketing, and selling to influential audience. According to him, “Asia is a growth story.” He added. “We’re excited to be able to help connect the dots and create economic opportunities for everyone.”

Top five companies followed by Asian users

According to LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD), the top five companies with strong following in Asia include International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM), Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ), Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Accenture Plc (NYSE:ACN), and Tata Consultancy Services Limited (BOM:532540) (NSE:TCS).
