Design
The first thing to look at when it comes to comparing the LG G7 ThinQ vs iPhone X is the design. It’s painfully obvious that LG took a note out of Apple’s playbook – even going so far as to emulate the controversial “Notch”. This isn’t the first time that Apple has been a trailblazer in terms of design and features, with the original iPhone largely being responsible for introducing the world to the concept of a smartphone. The Notch, on the other hand, has people much more divided – and many Android users aren’t exactly happy about this feature migrating over to their high-end phones.
It’s impossible to look at design without drawing this connection when comparing the LG G7 ThinQ vs iPhone X as one is clearly inspired – if not outright copying – the other. With that said, there are some differences that set the phone apart.
One of the major differences is the way in which the Notch was implemented. The LG G7 ThinQ has a 6.1-inch “FullVision” display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and QDH+ resolution. As mentioned above, the phone features the signature “notch”, but unlike the iPhone X, LG gives users the option to turn the notch off by adding a black bar across the top of the display. This is a rather inelegant solution to what many consider a design problem, but it’s still an option that’s there for those who would like a more traditional handset.
The iPhone X marks the first device from Apple that features OLED technology, and the screen is widely considered to be one of the best on the market. With that said, the difference when comparing the LG G7 ThinQ vs iPhone X is negligible when it comes to display.
Power
The LG G7 ThinQ comes equipped with a 2.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor that should provide some of the best performance on the market. The device that will ship in the United States will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while certain other markets will get a G7 ThinQ with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The iPhone X features its own proprietary hardware so it’s difficult to compare the two without getting our hands on both. The LG G7 ThinQ does have a leg up on the iPhone X when it comes to RAM, but it’s important to keep in mind that comparing Apple and Android devices in terms of power and performance isn’t quite as easy as a 1:1 comparison. While Apple devices generally ship with less RAM, the superior software performance basically makes them perform similarly to their Android counterparts.
The LG G7 ThinQ should have some seriously impressive performance, but so does the iPhone X. When comparing the LG G7 ThinQ with the iPhone X, it’s difficult to say which comes out on top, and if your primary concern is performance you’ll be happy with either device.
Camera
When comparing the LG G7 ThinQ vs iPhone X in terms of cameras, things are a little more cut and dry. While the iPhone X may appear to have the edge in the majority of categories, we feel that the G7 ThinQ will come out on top just in terms of the camera specifications.
The iPhone X ships with a pair of 12MP cameras, while the LG ships with 16MP sensors which will generally lead to better shots. While some adjustments can be made with excellent software – an area that Apple generally shines in – it will be difficult for the iPhone X to deliver the same sort of picture quality as the LG G7 ThinQ.

Verdict
While the LG G7 ThinQ does have an advantage in several areas, we feel that it fails to unseat the iPhone X
Dual cameras are no longer surprises in the greater scheme of things, especially considering it’s become the norm – so it only makes sense to find these two armed with them. For the iPhone X, it’s slapped with a pair of 12MP cameras with OIS, with the two of them breaking down to a wide-angle f/1.8 lens and a telephoto f/2.4 one. Meanwhile, LG has upgraded the hardware in its new flagship with a pair of 16MP sensors broken down to a 71-degree f/1.6 lens and a wide-angle 107-degree f/1.9 one.
With the two of them, they’re able to capture those creamy looking bokeh portrait shots that can make anyone seem like a professional in how they’re able to separate the subject and background. However, camera aficionados will undoubtedly appreciate the vast manual controls and that wide-angle lens for some sweet compositions you really can’t achieve with the iPhone X. Over on the video side, too, it seems as though the G7 ThinQ has an edge with its extensive controls and Cine modes. And lastly, the AI integration with the G7 ThinQ allows the camera to adjust to the scene to yield the best results.
