A new hotel plans to upgrade the customer service experience with robots and set higher standards for future hotels with energy efficient amenities
One Japanese hotel plans to add robots to its staff. The Henn-Ha Hotel will feature three robots that will run the reception desk. The bots feature human likenesses and have the capability to engage in human conversation. Henn-Ha also plans to add four service robots to its staff.
The ultimate goal of the Henn-Ha Hotel is to retain its commitment to evolution. Huis Ten Bosch, a Netherlands-themed park, will open the hotel. The park’s president, Hideo Sawada, believes it will be the most efficient hotel in the world and that robots will soon run 90% of the property. Sawada also wants to build 1,000 similar hotels throughout the world.
A revolutionary hotel
Henn-Ha also wants to make this hotel one of the most tech-friendly hotels in the industry. Facial recognition technology will be used to access rooms. And since room amenities will be minimal, guests can make requests for specific amenities via a tablet computer. Radiation panels in the room will eliminate the need for air conditioning. It will rely on body heat in the room to adjust temperatures. The Henn-Ha will run on energy-efficient technologies, including solar power, to save on overall costs.
The hotel’s room rates will vary according to demand. Guests will bid for rooms rather than paying a fixed price. Although there will be a price cap, the highest bidders will win rooms. Room fees will start at $60 for a single room and $153 for a triple room. Deluxe and superior rooms will cost more. Guests reserve rooms through the hotel’s website.
Robot-centered park to open in 2016
South Korea is also set to open up its first theme park centered on artificial intelligence. Robot Land will be comprised of three smaller parks called Robot Kingdom, Robot City and Kidbot Village. Robot Kingdom includes a history center and game arena, while Robot City features a robot aquarium, and Kidbot Village features rides. The latter also includes an education center. This theme park is set to open next year.
