Apple’s much-awaited iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are set to arrive on Friday. The Cupertino company has launched its own iPhone Upgrade Program to keep users tied to its ecosystem. Users can pay directly to Apple, instead of a wireless carrier, for the device over 24 months. Carriers are also trying hard to lure as many potential buyers as possible.
Trade in your older iPhone for the iPhone 6S
T-Mobile CEO John Legere announced on Twitter that the company will offer the brand new iPhone 6S for just $5 per month with an iPhone 6 trade-in through its JUMP! On Demand. If you want to trade in your ‘old’ iPhone 5S, you’ll have to pay a reasonable $10 per month. The monthly payment ranges between $5 and $15 depending on the older iPhone you trade-in and the iPhone 6S model you choose.

T-Mobile’s deal is good enough to lure buyers away from other carriers with Apple-specific deals. The company will start selling the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on Sept.25. The new phones support T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE that extends its LTE signal twice as far from its cellular towers. The Bellevue-based company’s Extended Range LTE covers more than 50% of the U.S. population across 175 cities and towns.

T-Mobile also has a JUMP! On Demand promotion for those who do not wish to trade in their older iPhone. It allows users to get a 16GB iPhone 6S with zero upfront payment and $20 a month for 18 months. It means you’ll have to pay just $360 if you agree to return the device in good condition. You’ll have to shell out an additional $164 if you choose to keep the iPhone. That’s still $125 lower than the $649 price of the 16GB iPhone 6S.
The iPhone 6S and its bigger sibling have received glowing reviews all over. Mashable praised the iPhone 6S’ 12-megapixel iSight camera and the series 7000 aluminum body. Some of the biggest additions are 3D Touch and 4K video capabilities. The Verge said 3D Touch will become as important as pinching and zooming. Time magazine said the iPhone 6S camera is close to DSLR quality.
