Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will reportedly hold a mega event on September 9 to launch the highly anticipated the iPhone 6. That means the release date is less than a month away. But leaked features of the device continue to flow out. The latest leak is not about the presence of a specific feature. Instead, it tells us that one of the expected features will not appear in the iPhone 6. And that’s an illuminated Apple logo on the back of the forthcoming device.
iPhone 6 won’t sport an LED-lit logo
According to the Taiwanese publication Apple Club, the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 6 won’t act as a notification light. Leaked images obtained by the Taiwanese website show Apple logos that will be fit on the iPhone 6. The logos are just plain “logos.” There is no sign of LEDs or other connectors that could allow it to be used as the notification light. We reported earlier this month that the iPhone 6 won’t have LED-lit logo. But the latest piece of leaked evidence puts this rumor to rest.
What’s more, supply chain sources told the Taiwanese publication that the logo will not emit any light. This report contradicts with previous rumors that the back panel logo might light up for notifications. Those reports also showed leaked rear shell images, allegedly of the iPhone 6, showing the interior. The inner shell was covered with a translucent plastic that reportedly allowed the light to pass through.
The iPhone 6 retail box images were fake
Last week, images of the alleged iPhone 6 retail box surfaced on the web. But that was later determined to be fake. Reddit reported that the images were of a Chinese knockoff. The iPhone 6 will come in two variants, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The bigger version will have a stronger processor, up to 128GB of storage and scratch-proof sapphire display. The 4.7-inch version will offer up to 64GB of storage.
Apple shares inched up 0.24% to $96.23 at 12:48 PM EDT on Tuesday.
