The iPhone 6 won’t launch until later on next year, but the concept ideas for the highly-anticipated smartphone continue to roll. There are so many reports and rumors regarding the future gadget that it’s hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Even more interesting, however, are the concept designs.
There have been numerous rumors that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) plans on releasing a phablet style phone. These phones would be similar to the phablets put out by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) competitors like Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) and LG Electronics Inc. (KRX:066570) (OTCMKTS:LGEAF). There have also been reports that the iPhone 6 would feature a curved display and flexible design. These rumors have yet to be confirmed.
iPhone 6 concept design
There is a new concept design for the iPhone 6, this time from mechanical engineering student Nikola Cirkovic. He created a series of renderings of one design that looks similar to the iPhone 5S with a nearly invisible ultra-thin bezel on each side. His renderings show a sleek device that measures about 5.3 millimeters. This concept design features a screen that meets at the side edges for a more futuristic look. It’s definitely a concept design Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) might produce, but only time will tell with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s plans.
iPhone 6 body
Cirkovic’s idea of an edge-to-edge iPhone isn’t anything new. Last week, a similar screen design was found by CTFO, a Deviant Art website user. This design features a slightly thicker build and controls on the side. CTFO neglected to share details on the features or specifications of the device.
Steve Wozniak’s expectations for iPhone 6
No matter what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) does with their next smartphone, Steve Wozniak hopes the iPhone 6 will be larger. He elaborated, “At first, I bought Android phones [to] do personal experimentation and I didn’t like it, until about the Nexus One. There’s a few I’ve liked a little along the way, but when it came to the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note – these are pretty good phones. The HTC One and the Galaxy S4 – my eye is drawn to the nice big glowing screen…I’d like a larger screen.”
Wozniak isn’t the only one who wants a larger iPhone. Business mogul Donald Trump recently mentioned that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone needs a bigger screen.
