Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) investors are not very upbeat on the yet to be released iPhone 6, according to Piper Jaffray Analyst Gene Munster. The analyst believes that the iPhone 6 will have to come with additional features to meet the expectations of the investors and users. Investors indicated to him that they expect iPhone 6 sales to be lower than expectations.
Do investors trust wearable?
Investors are also not very enthusiastic on the other expected devices form Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) such as iWatch. However, Munster differs from this, and believes that wearable could be encouraging for the investors.
A report from Ubergizmo suggests “Apple’s shares are likely to react bullishly if the new iPhone is able to steal customers away from large screened Android smartphone. Stock price is likely to react the same way should the iWatch become a hit, thus the investors would get a better bang for their buck.”
Expected features of iPhone 6
There are a string of reports on the expected iPhone 6 specs, release date and features, which have been hogging the limelight ever since the launch of iPhone 5S and 5C. There is a common consensus that the upcoming iPhone 6 would have a larger screen display of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. Analyst Steve Milunovich of UBS supported the rumors by saying that Apple is already in process of designing two iPhone variants with different display sizes.
Other rumored specifications of the iPhone 6 include A8 processor with 64-bit architecture, a separate graphics chipset, sapphire screen display, better camera and an improved touchID fingerprint. According to the rumors, the device will have a new version of the operating system.
When will Apple release iPhone 6
There are speculations that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would launch the iPhone or iPhones at Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) in June. Other reports suggest that the device would only be launched in the month of September, the usual annual cycle. Analyst Milunovich, in a note to investors, stated that Apple would launch a 4.7 inch iPhone in August or September. Another variant with display size of 5.5 inches could be launched at a later date in competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4.
Apple iPhone 6 is expected to have a sapphire screen instead of gorilla glass. The sapphire screen is expected to be more durable, when compared to the gorilla glass screen. Such rumors were backed up by various reports that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has ordered a huge quantity of sapphire glass.
