Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S could be near production according to a new report. Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) (OTCMKTS:PGTRF) is reportedly the name of the factory hired by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to manufacture the iPhone. Now it’s reported that Pegatron will hire 40,000 new employees to ensure production needs are met.
Because the manufacturer is hiring a large number of employees, there is speculation that two new phones could be on their way. There were earlier reports that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was going to switch their manufacturing from Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) (OTCMKTS:FXCOF) to Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) (OTCMKTS:PGTRF) in hopes to prevent rumors or leaks.
IPhone 6 Will Not be Released Before iOS 7 is Finished
International Business Times reports, “This latest shift in manufacturing on Apple’s part sees it moving the iPhone away from Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) (OTCMKTS:FXCOF), where its relationship has become strained over the past year, while asking iPad mini factory Pegatron to pull double duty. And while the iPhone 6 will not be released until iOS 7 is finished, which Apple says will be in the fall or sooner, the new iPhone factory is ramping up the headcount now.”
Apple designer Jonathan Ive gave the upcoming iOS 7 a fresh new look. Although the new operating system was initially designed for the iPhone 5S(which will likely debut this late summer or early fall), it’s also likely the operating system for the iPhone 6 will mirror the operating system for the iPhone 5S.
Rumors of iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S
IBT added, “The next iPhone is rumoured to feature Retina or IGZO screen display, A7 quad core chip processor, iOS 7, 128GB internal storage, 13 mega-pixel camera, and longer battery life. The lack of NFC support on the iPhone 5 was one of the biggest criticisms aimed at Apple’s smartphone.”
There are also reports of a budget iPhone that may feature a plastic case, dual-core processor, 4-inch screen display, and 8 megapixel camera. It’s also speculated that it may come in a variety of colors like the current generation of iPod touches.
