iPhone 5S: More Photos Leak Online

Updated on

New photos of the purported iPhone 5S have surfaced on the internet. According to MacRumors, these new images show a tweaked rear shell and the internal design of the phone. These photos also show something interesting that hasn’t been seen in earlier photos: a larger LED flash on the rear of the shell.

Rear Shell Of iPhone 5S

Purported rear shell images of the iPhone 5S have been appearing since December of last year. Although Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has yet to confirm whether or not the iPhone 5S actually exists, it’s predicted to come out sometime during the late summer or early fall of this year. It’s also predicted to come with a better resolution camera, perhaps a 12-megapixel camera with better low-light mode.

MacRumors’ Observations For iPhone 5S

MacRumors also made some observations about the logic board, which looks a lot like the logic board as seen in previous images earlier this week—only difference is a narrower profile and a new layout for connectors and components. It was added, “The main chip on the logic board is interestingly not labeled with an A-series name such as on the A6 seen in the iPhone 5. It is unclear whether the chip name has been removed somehow or if it was never printed in the first place.”

There is also a data code that’s reads “1243” visible on the bottom of the main chip. This means that the chip was made on the 43rd week of 2012 which would have been October. Since this would be earlier than initially expected, it’s a little confusing if this is the same chip found in the iPhone 5 or a new chip.

There are also rumors that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will introduce lower-priced iPhones that come in an array of colors (much like the current generation of iPod Touches) in the near future. If these rumors are true at all, 2013 could be a big year for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
