Apple is yet to release the public version of its mobile operating system iOS 10. On the eve of Apple’s big iPhone 7 launch event, an Italian hacker and security researcher has posted video showing a jailbreak of iOS 10 beta 8 for 64-bit devices. Though this jailbreak may never be released to the public, it confirms that even after eight beta releases, the iOS 10 is still jailbreakable.
It’s not the first iOS 10 beta jailbreak
Luca Todesco, also known as qwertyoruiop, has named his jailbreak “yaluX.” This is not the first iOS 10 beta jailbreak, though. Earlier, well-known hacker iH8Sn0w demonstrated Cydia on an iPhone 5 running iOS 10 beta 1. And then, Chinese hacker group Pangu demonstrated a similar jailbreak at the Mobile Security Conference in Shanghai. Pangu has been behind several jailbreaking tools for the iOS 9 and iOS 8.

Tedesco had previously teased the iOS 9.3.4 jailbreak shortly after the Cupertino company released it to patch Pangu’s iOS 9.3.3. jailbreak. Todesco latest jailbreak video starts with a one-tap jailbreak solution on what appears to be a 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The jailbreak appears to use an app on the home screen. Tapping a button within the app leads to the launch of Cydia on the Home screen.
Tedesco’s yaluX shows signs of a semi-untethered jailbreak
It is too early to say whether the exploit used by Tedesco will work on the final version of iOS 10. Luca Tedesco has jailbroken several versions of the iOS in the past, but he prefers to keep his exploits private. Don’t get too excited about Tedesco releasing his tool to the public. It does show that the iOS 10 can still be jailbroken despite the Cupertino company’s kernel patch protection (KPP).
According to iDownloadBlog, Tedesco’s yaluX jailbreak shows the same signs of a semi-untethered jailbreak similar to Pangu’s iOS 9.3.3 tool. You can see Cydia on the Home screen even before the jailbreak process began. However, Tedesco pointed out on Twitter that for some unknown reason, Cydia “wants to remove itself” from the Home screen.
