Pakistan’s former cricketer star turned politician Imran Khan, got injured during a political rally on Tuesday in the eastern city of Lahore, after he fell from the stage.

Ijaz Chaudhry, one of the members of Imran Khan’s political group told that the politician was immediately rushed to the hospital, and there are no life-threatening injuries. As per the reports coming, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief suffered injuries on his head and back. He was initially taken to Jinnah hospital.

A Tweet from Jemima Khan read “He’s in hospital & conscious now RT.”

Ibrarul Haq, a Famous singer and PTI leader, told that Khan is out of danger, and his condition is stable. A footage released by the local operator shows supporters carrying unconscious Khan away from the rally with his face covered in blood.

“Imran Khan fell from a lifter. He has received injuries to his head and he has been taken to hospital,” Malik Ishtiaq, a local spokesman for Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) told in tears.

Imran Khan fell down from at least 5 meters (15 feet) height from a possible makeshift elevator, which was to raise him up on the stage. Imran fell down along with three or four party activists. The political rally took place at Ghalib Market in Lahore’s Gulberg neighborhood.

Other political leaders including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz issued sympathetic statements for their political rival. Tahirul Qadri and MQM founder Altaf Hussain have also offered their sympathies.

Imran Khan, 61-year old, has been holding rallies as a part of the election campaign for the upcoming general election scheduled for May 11. The PTI chief addresses many rallies in a day across Pakistans major cities and towns. Khan won only one seat in 2002 and boycotted the elections in 2008. PTI chief was to hold nine other rallies today. After the Ghalib stadium rally, he was supposed to hold a rally in Raiwind and then back again to Lahore.
