Rumors, rumors, rumors. To begin, there is little to no question that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has dazzled the world over the last 10 years with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. However, their slumping stock suggests a “What have you done for me lately” feeling beginning to set in among consumers, shareholders, and journalists. Apple, for some time, has limited themselves to tepid updates, gaffes like Apple Maps, and the uninspired iPad Mini.
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) at the same time, in addition to taking the lead with the Android OS, has promised self-driving cars, and will deliver Chromebook, Google Now (on multiple platforms) , and Google Glass in the near future. The last, Google Glass, saw me threatening the hypothetical first person I run across who dares don them weeks before the 5 Point Cafe made news this week by doing the same thing. One has to assume that casinos and movie theaters will do the same before they even hit the shelves. The point is this is a Google product and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs an answer especially in the wearable technology field that is set to explode.
Firstly, iWatch remains a rumor built on speculation that is based on patent applications but MacRumors reported in February that..
Bloomberg is reporting that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has a team of about 100 product designers working on a wristwatch computer, according to “two people familiar with the company’s plans.” The New York Times previously reported that Apple had been “experimenting” with a curved glass smart watch, but Bloomberg believes that Apple’s smart watch plans have moved beyond the experimental phase.
Yesterday, saw yet more reporting from Bloomberg when James Wilson went so far as to suggest that due to the number of wearable technologies that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) sells from third-parties in the back of their retail locations that they are using this purchase information to determine what consumers are likely to pay to monitor. Mr. Wilson, I sound like Dennis the Menace, used a photo to show a cohesiveness amongst products in an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Store that showed a variety of products like:
- Fitbit One and Zip physical activity sensors
- Scosche Rhythm heart rate monitor armband
- Jawbone Up physical activity and sleep sensor
- Nike+ Fuelband physical activity sensor
- Lark Life physical activity and sleep sensor
- iBGStar blood glucose sensor
- iHealth wireless blood pressure wrist monitor
He then went on to say that he believes Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will incorporate these technologies into a watch that will wirelessly send this information to your phone or laptop in order for users to better manage their lives. Sounds good, but Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) had better hurry.
