According to the latest rumors, the Huawei Mate 9 could be unveiled in a few weeks time in Germany.

Huawei is going to announce a new smartphone at the event, and many people believe it will be the Mate 9. However, the company has not confirmed this news so far.

Is November 3 event related to Huawei Mate 9?

In fact, the Huawei Mate 9 leaked a while ago, providing a fairly good idea of what the upcoming smartphone could look like. The handset is thought to be the subject of a new teaser posted by Huawei, which uses the hashtag #AStepAhead.

The simple teaser only announces that there will be a global product launch taking place on November 3 in the German city of Munich. Apart from that details are very thin.

There is little to suggest that the Huawei Mate 9 will be launched at the event. However, there is no mention of a different device that could be set for launch.

The Mate range has been one of the most popular from Huawei in the last few years. One reason for this could be the fact that the handsets have a large display, but another is that the devices have impressive battery life.

Rumored specs sound impressive

This long battery life can be explained by the choice to stick with 1080p displays, instead of power-hungry, pixel-dense QHD displays. Rumor has it that the Huawei Mate 9 will stick with a 5.9-inch 1080p display.

Other rumored specs include a Kirin 960 processor, that should become available this month. There will also be variants of the Huawei Mate 9 with RAM and storage of up to 6GB and 256GB respectively.

These are impressive numbers, especially given that the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the only existing smartphones that offer up to 256GB internal storage. Commentators are also speculating that the Huawei Mate 9 will keep a dual camera setup with a 20-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel sensor. The previous edition had two 12-megapixel sensors.

Given the problems with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the Huawei Mate 9 could see some impressive sales if it is a decent handset. For Android fans, it might turn out to be a great handset and one that is worth looking out for on November 3.
