Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ:PEGA): The business software firm announced strong fourth quarter profits and managed to beat Wall Street’s estimates. The company added two of the world’s largest insurance companies and a public sector firm in its client list during the quarter. Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ:PEGA) also issued full-year forecasts that handily surpassed analysts’ expectations. Shares soared 14.69 percent to $29.05 in early trading.

Gentium S.p.A. (NASDAQ:GENT): The Italy-based biotherapeutics company said that it expects a European regulatory authority to oppose the approval of its main drug for the treatment of hereditary liver disorder. American shares of the company tanked 36.30 percent to $7.60 in early trading session.

Repros Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:RPRX): The USFDA has given its approval for the company to go ahead with a study of its Androxal drug. The regulator has also accepted additional enrollment for a different study of the same molecule. Androxal has the capabilities to normalize testosterone and luteinizing hormone levels. Shares surged 35.76 percent to $13.82 in early market trading.

Rubicon Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCN): The LED component supplier posted a fourth quarter loss as its margins narrowed. The company’s first quarter guidance was far below analysts’ estimates. Shares dipped 12.98 percent to $5.02 in early trading.

VeriFone Systems Inc (NYSE:PAY): The electronic payments company gave poor guidance for the current quarter earnings. The company also lowered its estimates for the first quarter. VeriFone CEO said earnings were affected by delayed projects from some major customers, weak economic condition in Eurozone and weakness in South America. Shares skidded 38.26 percent to $19.69 in early trading.

Berry Petroleum Company (NYSE:BRY): Linn Energy is acquiring Berry in a $2.5 billion stock deal. Linn is planning to boost production and expand its geographical reach. Berry shares went up 18.76 percent to $45.79 in early trading.
