Updated on

Action camera maker GoPro will hold a special event at 9:00 a.m. PT (12:00 ET) today where it is expected to unveil exciting new products that could help reverse its sales decline. GoPro will take the wraps off its next-gen GoPro Hero 5 camera and the Karma drone. Over the last few weeks, the company has released several videos teasing the Karma drone.

How to watch the GoPro Hero 5 event

The San Mateo-based company will live stream the event on GoPro.com starting 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. You can also watch it on this Facebook page. If you live in the UK, the launch time is 5 p.m. on Sept.19. Both Hero 5 and Karma drone have long been named by the company. Leaks over the past few months have confirmed the names of these products.

GoPro Hero 5: Rumored features and specs

It’s been two years since the company released the Hero 4 silver and black. GoPro’s sales have been slowing, and the new action camera could help reverse the trend. The new flagship camera is expected to be different than its predecessors. Earlier this year, Nick Woodman said that the Hero 5 would be the “most connected and convenient” camera the company has ever made.

The Hero 5 will make it easier to access and edit the footage. The next-gen camera is said to capture 4K content at 60 frames per second. The Hero 5 is also rumored to have a voice control feature that will let you capture images, record videos, and highlight content simply by giving voice commands. It is said to have a waterproof body, which means you can go down deep into water even without a case.

Previous leaks suggest that the GoPro Hero 5 will feature built-in GPS and an improved 2800mAh battery. Also, the rumor mill claims that the new action camera will have a touchscreen. The Karma drone is also said to be a little different from the likes of DJI Phantom.
