We were finally introduced to the much anticipated Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Of course, thanks to all of the rumors, there wasn’t much we didn’t know about these new flagship devices from Google. Now that the two devices have been officially revealed the biggest question on the mind on many potential buyers is, “When is the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL pre-order date?” Well, we have you covered with all the information you need to get your hands on one of Google’s hot new devices.

If you want to pre-order one of these smartphones then you’ll be happy to know that Google opened up pre-orders right away. Unlike the iPhone X, which still has yet to open up for pre-orders, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL pre-order period began right after the announcement. The Google store and many retailers are already taking orders with shipments beginning on October 17th. That’s a pretty impressive turnaround for Google.

Like most flagship smartphones these days, you are going to have to dig deep into your wallet if you want a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL. The Google Pixel 2 starts at $649 for the 64GB model and jumps up to $749 to double the storage to 128GB. Keep in mind that neither of these devices have expandable storage options. The larger Google Pixel 2 XL pre-order price is $849 for the 64GB version and $949 for the 128GB model. A fully loaded Pixel 2 XL is still less than a base iPhone X but we are creeping closer and closer to that $1000 mark.

There are some deals that you can take advantage of when you pre-order one of Google’s new smartphones. The Google store and some retailers are offering a free Google Home Mini for those that choose to pre-order. If you were thinking of picking up a Google Home Mini anyway then you’ll want to look for a pre-order deal that can get you set up with Google’s smaller personal assistant device for the low, low price of free.

A lot of people have taken notice of the Google Pixel Buds which were shown during the same event as the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. These, unfortunately, are not included with the purchase of a smartphone and I have not come across any deals which bundle the two together. Given how popular Apple’s AirPods have been, I would imagine that the Pixel Buds will be a hot item and you won’t see them go on sale any time soon. With the loss of the 3.5mm headphone port it’s likely that a lot of people upgrading to the new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL will also be looking at a pair of the Pixel Buds. The earbuds are very cool and at $159, the earbuds are a decent deal when you consider the great features packed in like real time translation. Honestly, these Pixel Buds might actually be cooler than the smartphones they’re meant to be paired with. You can pre-order the Pixel Buds now as well.

Are you still having trouble deciding which device to get? We did a Pixel 2 vs Pixel 2 XL showdown that compared a lot of the similarities and differences between the two devices. Definitely check out that article if you are still on the fence about spending the extra money to jump up to the Pixel 2 XL. Basically, the design is the biggest difference between the two devices. Both sport top of the line hardware and have more than enough power to do whatever you need them to do. However, the bezel-less design and large, QHD display on the Pixel 2 XL make it a true competitor with the likes of the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X. The real question is whether you want to pony up the extra cash or not.

If the price tags on these devices have you feeling a little bit lightheaded, be sure to ask retailers about any trade in programs they may have available. Some stores are offering upgrade programs that give you a pretty decent price for your old smartphone in order to upgrade to the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL without having to break the bank too much. Of course, you will usually get more money selling your device on your own but this takes away a lot of the hassle and gives you instant savings. Just be sure to save any information you need before you hand over your old device.

There you have it! Some of the deals going on to help you upgrade to the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL. Are you going to be placing a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL pre-order? Does the price fit with what you’re willing to spend on a smartphone or will you be looking elsewhere for a new device this fall? Found any deals we haven’t heard about?
