Google Down: Outage Is Now Over

Google’s Email To CNN

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) sent an email to CNN reporting that the outage affected users in Georgia, West Virginia, Nebraska, and North Carolina. Google explained, “However, the issue was quickly resolved and is now over. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our users there.”

Google services that were affected included Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, and Google Plus. The search giant’s application status reported that the issues were fixed by 10:40 am EST.

Google’s outage inspired jokes on Twitter. One tweet from someone named Adam Sullivan asked, “If google is down… How will I ever google “why is Google down?”

Another tweeter named Rebeccah Connelly added, “Oh dear God it’s the end of humanity as we know. Need to go buy bread and milk.#googledown”

Since Google is such an integral part of the internet, it’s hard to function on the world wide web without the search giant.

Grant McFerrin Sums It Up: Google Down

Grant McFerrin summed it up nicely with, “”Google is like Walmart and Waffle House. It’s supposed to be open 24/7. #Google Down,”

Fortunately, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is back up and functioning. Oftentimes, popular sites will go down occasionally for no apparent reason. In a world that’s connected twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, it’s kind of easy to freak out if a popular website goes down for awhile. Google and their most popular services are crucial for internet users. If this outage lasted longer, it might have caused a real problem for the company. It’s important for Google (and other major websites) to maintain their services to ensure problems like this never happen. In this case, Google handled it well.
