Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s Model S vehicles are so popular right now that there’s a wait time of about two to three months, depending on which version of the Model S you want. In fact, they’re so popular that the Model S is outselling Mercedes and BMW. But apparently you can cut in line and get a Model S right away with no wait, according to Business Insider, and you don’t have to settle for the loaner cars that are available under Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s “buy it now” program.
It turns out that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) keeps “a few dozen” of its Model S Performance models ready and waiting to be delivered immediately. Some of the cars were ordered by buyers who ended up not having the cash by the time they were ready to be delivered. Others were used as displays at Tesla Stores or in other marketing scenarios.
There’s Always A Catch—Even When Cutting In Line For A Model S
The only catch is that you won’t have many choices when it comes to options. What’s available is what’s available, so you might not end up with the exact options and exterior and interior color combinations that you want. Also the cars that are in inventory automatically come with 21-inch wheels and the Performance Plus package, as well as the technology package, a premium sound system and a panoramic roof.
So for those who are willing to shell out $110,000 for a car and can’t be bothered to wait, there are some options. Of course now that the word is out, these inventory cars may sell pretty fast.
