Galaxy S7 Design Leaked By Accessories Maker

Updated on

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones set to arrive in 2016. There have been a lot of rumors about the device, but finally a smartphone case maker has revealed its design elements. GSM Arena has obtained exclusive Galaxy S7 renders from ITSKINS. Accessories makers get access to design and control layouts of devices in advance to prepare their product line.

Samsung may launch a Plus version of S7

The images suggest that Samsung is going to launch two versions of S7. One measures 143.37 x 70.8 x 6.94 mm, almost similar to the dimensions of Galaxy S6. The second one will be a giant phone measuring 163.32 x 82.01 x 7.82mm. The Plus version of the Galaxy S7 may feature a 6-inch display. It is still unclear what Samsung is going to do with the Edge variant. If the S7 Plus indeed comes with a 6-inch screen, it will be bigger than Galaxy Note 5.

The renders indicate that the Galaxy S7 will resemble its predecessor in design. That’s in line with an earlier report from the Korea Times, which claimed that Samsung will not change the design elements of the S7 to keep costs down. However, you might have noticed in the renders that the typical Samsung round shaped home button has been replaced with a rectangular one. The SIM card slot has also been moved to the side.

Galaxy S7 to be cheaper than its predecesso?

The US and Chinese versions of Galaxy S7 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8890 will power the models that will be sold in the rest of the world. Last month, the S7 powered by Exynos 8890 shattered all records in AnTuTu benchmark tests, receiving a score of 103,692. The Korean electronics giant will reportedly use a heat pipe in Galaxy S7 to solve overheating issues.

Last month, analyst Pan Jiutang said Samsung’s upcoming flagship phone will be 10% cheaper than the Galaxy S6. The Korean company’s smartphone business was going through a “slow growth phase,” and the price cut would help it boost sales. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S7 on February 21, a day before the Mobile World Congress begins in Barcelona.
