Accessories makers have already started mass production of the Galaxy S6 and S Edge cases
In December, we reported that Samsung would launch an Edge version of the Galaxy S6 alongside the standard model. Last month, telecom carrier Vodafone accidentally revealed that there will indeed be a Galaxy S Edge. The South Korean company has already sent out invites for its Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona on March 1.
Galaxy S6 will be 6.91mm thick
Now, Cho Mu-hyun of ZDNet Korea has obtained leaked images of the Galaxy S6 and its Edge sibling from supply chain sources. The image shows five devices with ‘Galaxy S6’ and ‘Galaxy S Edge’ names written on the right side. The first phone (from left) is the standard Galaxy S6 without a cover. The second and third have Verus made covers on them.
The fourth and fifth phones show curves on the side. On the fourth device, the right-side is curved, while the fifth shows an edge on the left side. It confirms that the Galaxy S Edge will be dual-edged. These images are pretty similar to the schematics leaked by SamMobile. The schematics show that the phone will be 6.91mm thick, contrary to previous rumors of 7.2mm thickness. The height and width of the phone will be 143.3mm and 70.8mm, respectively.
Galaxy S6 to have a protruding camera module
The schematics suggest that the next flagship device will have a protruding camera module. Sources told ZDNet Korea that accessories makers have already started mass production of the Galaxy S6 and S Edge cases based on the devices and metal moulds of phones provided by Samsung. Separately, sources inside Samsung said that the Galaxy S Edge will be dual-edged.
What’s more, images released by accessories maker Verus confirm that the LED flash will be on the right side of the camera. The Galaxy S6 is expected to introduce Samsung’s mobile payment platform Samsung Pay to rival Apple Pay. The device will have a non-swipe fingerprint sensor on the Home button. The Galaxy S6 will have a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, 3GB RAM, 20-megapixel main camera, Exynos 7420 processor and Android Lollipop.
