Galaxy Note 7 vs iPhone 6S Plus vs Galaxy S7 vs OnePlus 3: Benchmark Tests

Updated on

The Galaxy Note 7 is now official. After months of rumors and speculations, Samsung took the wraps off the phablet in New York on August 2. Is it going to be the new best Android device when it hits the store shelves? We can’t conclude that until the Note 7 is compared to other flagship smartphones in real-life. But the first benchmark comparisons are out, thanks to Phone Arena.

Galaxy Note 7 outperforms all others on AnTuTu

The Galaxy Note 7 is a beast, at least on paper – even though it packs the same Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB RAM as the Galaxy S7. The Note 7 scored 145,143 points on AnTuTu benchmark, almost 9,000 points higher than the Galaxy S7 and about 2.5 times higher than the iPhone 6S Plus. On AnTuTu, the Note 7 is followed by OnePlus 3 with 140,007 points.

However, on GFX’s T-Rex and Manhattan benchmarks, the Note 7 lags behind the OnePlus 3, Moto Z Droid Edition, and the iPhone 6S Plus. On GFX Benchmark, the Note 7’s performance is same as the Galaxy S7 that was released earlier this year. We expect to see more benchmark comparisons as the Note 7 gets into the hands of more people.

Samsung anticipates strong Galaxy Note 7 sales

Phone Arena says the Galaxy Note 7’s better performance on AnTuTu can be attributed to better software optimizations and more room for cooling as it has a larger body. Samsung’s head of mobile communications business Dongjin Koh said he was expecting the Note 7 sales to beat its predecessors, though Koh did not offer specific sales targets.

The Galaxy Note 7 features an iris scanner for added security, along with IP68 dust and waterproofing capabilities. It also has a Secure Folder where you can keep your private and personal information safe. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage and support for microSD cards of up to 256GB. The Note 7 features a 12-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilization and 5MP front snapper. The S Pen stylus also offer improved pressure sensitivity to give users a real pen-like experience.
