Rumors about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 are in full swing ahead of its official launch. Now Dutch website TechTastic has spotted the Galaxy Note 5 model number in the source code of Samsung’s official website. For months, there have been consistent rumors that the Korean company is developing Note 5 (model number N920) under the Project Noble.
N920F European version of Galaxy Note 5
The Dutch publication spotted model numbers N920F and N925. The N920F is the European version of Galaxy Note 5. Model number N925 is attributed to the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus that is set to replace the successor to last year’s Galaxy Note Edge. Take a look at the code above.
Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Samsung was planning to launch its next flagship Galaxy Note 5 phablet in August, well before Apple’s refreshed iPhones arrive. The Cupertino-based tech giant has historically launched its new iPhones in September. By launching the Note 5 earlier, Samsung would try to circumnavigate any attempt by Apple to dominate the phablet market.
Galaxy Note 5 features and specs
The Galaxy Note 5 will feature a 5.67-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, and an upgraded Exynos 7422 chipset that combines RAM, CPU, GPU, storage, and memory on a single chip. The device would run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI on top of it. SamMobile reported last week that the Galaxy Note 5 will feature a glass back panel. The device will have a huge 4,100mAh battery compared to 3,220MAh in the Galaxy Note 4.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with a dual-edge display will cater to the mid-range buyers. It will reportedly feature Qualcomm’s hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3,000mAh battery, a 16-megapixel main camera with 4K video recording and OIS, and a 5-megapixel front snapper.
Timing will play a crucial role in Samsung’s success against Apple’s upcoming iPhones. Last year, the Korean company announced Galaxy Note 4 ahead of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus. But the Cupertino company brought its devices to market on September 19, while Samsung released the Note 4 on October 17. It gave Apple a one-month head start to market its devices.
