Pre-orders for the Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) Galaxy Note phablet and Galaxy Gear smartwatch will start this week. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) recently shared a message on Twitter that pre-orders for the Galaxy Gear watch will start September 17th, which is two weeks from the October 2nd store launch.

The Galaxy Note 3 will be available to pre-order on September 18 for $199.99 down with 24 equal monthly device payments of $21[1] (plus taxes and fees) with T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan. Pre-ordered smartphones are expected to start shipping on or before October 2. The Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear companion smartwatch (sold separately) will launch nationwide at participating T-Mobile retail stores, select dealers, national retail stores and online at T-Mobile on October 2.

The Galaxy Gear smartwatch is a handy companion for the Galaxy smartphone. It features a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and a 1.9 MP camera that can record video in high definition. It will also support 70 applications to start. Now there are new rumors that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) already has plans for their second smartwatch. According to Korean tech news site Digital Times, this new watch is set to feature better battery life, GPS, and more support for other Android devices. Right now, the Galaxy Gear watch only works with the Galaxy Note 3.

Rumor has it that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will soon debut the iWatch. Even though it’s not the first company to launch a popular new tech trend, it is the company to redefine trends and turn them into something new. All eyes are on Apple as we wait for the future of the smartwatch.
