New research by Utility Bidder can today reveal the USA’s top 10 biggest emission emitting businesses would need to plant over TWO BILLION trees to offset their annual emissions.
The study analyses the US businesses with the biggest market caps to uncover their annual emissions and calculate the number of trees needed to offset the emissions they produce.

- Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), the multi billion dollar company owned by Jeff Bezos ranked in third place, with over 60 million annual emissions, needing to plant over 303 million trees to offset their emissions. Amazon was the only company in the top ten who also had scope 1,2 and 3 of emissions, whilst the rest only had 1 and 2.
- Delivery companies seemed to dominate the top ten, too. United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) ranked in fifth place with 36 million annual emissions, needing 180 million trees to offset their emissions. FedEx, followed closely behind, ranking in sixth place, with 35 million annual emissions, needing 175 million trees to offset their emissions.
- One of America’s leading department stores, Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT), also featured in the top ten, ranking at seventh place. Target has over 31 million annual emissions, needing 155 million trees to offset their annual emissions.
