It has long been expected that Fortnite Season 10 will be released on Aug. 1. Other than the release date, no other information about the upcoming season was available, but that changed on Sunday when Epic Games dropped the first Fortnite Season 10 teaser during the Fortnite World Cup finals.
Although the Fortnite Season 10 teaser does not reveal much, it did suggest the return of the Dusty Depot, which was destroyed in Season 4. Epic released the Fortnite Season 10 teaser during the solo tournament of the World Cup finals in New York.
Dusty Depot was a point of interest on the map which was tweaked by Epic. After a meteor hit the location in Season 3, it created Dusty Divot, a crater which had a research lab inside it. Epic did not reveal any more details about Season 10, leaving players guessing about what the return of Dusty Depot could mean. Some suggested a theory of time travel, while others say Season 10 could be a leap into Fortnite Classic.

Epic also revealed that competitive play will continue after the World Cup, but in a new format for Season 10. It is not clear how competitive play will work, but the developer did say that “every result matters” in the series.
“We will be debuting the Fortnite Championship series,” Epic said. “This will give players a chance to compete against the best of the best where every single result matters with a leaderboard to track results over the course of a season.”
The countdown to Season 10 started a couple of weeks ago when a timer appeared on the island. After the timer ran out, players witnessed an epic battle between a giant robot and a massive monster. Now the beast’s skeleton is on the island. Something similar happened in the lead-up to Season 9 when a volcanic eruption destroyed several parts of the island.
Epic’s Fortnite Season 10 teaser also shows the season’s logo in the form of a giant “X” and three hangars with the words “Think Back.” Aside from this, there is no more information on Season 10, but in the game, there is a massive orb in Loot Lake called the Singularity. It is pulsating with power and changes each day.
We expect the format of the season 10 Battle Pass to be more or less the same as before. Epic hasn’t changed the format much since it first introduced the Battle Pass. Players will need 950 Fortnite V-Bucks to buy the Season 10 Battle Pass. The Battle Pass unlocks the premium tier of rewards, such as new skins, emotes, stickers, back blings, harvesting tools and more.
There are no details about possible changes to the map, but some are speculating that it could take players back to the Jurassic Period, or at least a portion of map could be dedicated to the Jurassic Period. Over the months, players have been seeing dinosaur bones being dug up. Moreover, banners in the game feature archaeological tools and dinosaur skulls.
In the World Cup finals, 100 top Fortnite players competed for the $3 million grand prize. The competition was won by 16-year-old American Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf. He won the first match out of six and remained on top throughout the competition.
“This morning he was worriless, energetic, having fun to make sure he wasn’t stressed at all,” Bugha’s best friend, Colin Bradley, told AFP after the final. “He’s one of the smartest players. He knows when to attack, when not to attack, to stay high ground. He’s a strategic player.”
Three more players also became millionaires Psalm ($1.8 million), Epikwhale ($1.2 million) and Kreo ($1.05 million). All three are from the U.S.
Another attraction during the World Cup finals was the duos competition, which took place on Saturday. In the duos competition, European pair Emil “Nyhrox” Bergquist Pedersen and David “aqua” Wang won.
In all during the World Cup finals, about $30 million in prize money was given out. During the event, viewers also witnessed a live performance from Marshmello, who previously gave a concert inside the game. The in-game concert became the biggest event ever in the game with an audience of about 10 million players.
About 40 million made an attempt to qualify for the World Cup, but only 100 made their way to New York, representing 30 different countries. Fortnite’s World Cup prize of $3 million beats the top prize in many major sporting events, for instance, $2.98 million in Wimbledon, $2.53 million in the Indianapolis 500 and $1.98 million in The Masters, according to Statista.
