Facebook Inc (FB) Tries To Talk GM Into Advertising Again [REPORT]

It’s been seven months since GM pulled its $10 million advertising campaign from Facebook, just before the company’s IPO in May. Business Insider reports that Carolyn Everson, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s vice president of global marketing solutions, said she expects that the social media giant will repair its relationship with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) soon. She’s reportedly meeting with executives from GM in an attempt to fix their relationship.

Business Insider also points out that the history of the relationship between Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and GM has been pretty strange. Joel Ewanick, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)’s former marketing chief, dropped the company’s massive advertising campaign with Facebook because he didn’t think that it would work. Not long after that, GM fired Ewanick after allegations arose that he attempted to hide the real amount of the company’s Manchester United sponsorship.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) then tasked Everson with repairing the company’s relationship with General Motors. She told Business Insider that the strategy GM used in their Facebook advertising campaign simply wasn’t the right one, and that’s why it didn’t give the company the results it was looking for. However she also said that GM has shown interest in coming back in during negotiations with the social media giant.

Everson has reportedly met with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) executives recently, although she said she is not able to release any more details on their ongoing conversations.
